You find a small journal lying between the edge of the booth and the wall. You can't tell how long it's been sitting there, but you can't help but crack it open.
"...the biggest concern with the town was water. With no natural streams or rivers nearby, the council (consisting of myself, Dan the beet farmer and Archon) was concerned that the well found during the original opening of New Canton wouldn't hold up to any sustained growth.
You could see the tears in Archon's eyes. The poor man even lacked the masculinity to keep these sort of emotions to himself. He was in shambles. He never should have gotten himself into this sort of business. He was too fragile to handle the possible failure or a business, let alone an entire town.
"What am I going to tell the Irlans? I promised them a new place to start up. You should have seen how awful the town was they came from. Crime was everywhere."
